Prayer Diary

May 2012

Tuesday  1st: pray for the Nursing and Residential Homes especially those who welcome Christian services; also for those who take the love of God to them from the parish.

 

Wednesday 2nd: pray for this morning’s service at St B’s; pray for the person who will be our future Rector; remember that clergy of all churches face risks every day and pray that they will be safe

 

Thursday 3rd: pray for all who are suffering in body, mind and spirit that they will feel the healing touch of the Lord; pray for those who care for them.

 

Friday 4th: pray for the armed forces on duty abroad in situations of danger especially for those who have been wounded and those who have lost comrades as well as for the bereaved families.

 

Saturday 5th: pray for broken and dysfunctional families that love may conquer and peace be restored; also that all children may know that they are loved.

 

Sunday 6th: pray for this morning’s services and for the prayer meeting this evening. Pray for Wies Landheer, our new mission partner for the Church Mission Society, as she is commissioned today, continue to pray for her in the coming days as she flies to Nairobi to begin her work at the Gahini hospital.

 

Monday 7th: pray for Chaplains about Town (Cha†); pray for the Chaplains and volunteers as they listen to and befriend those in need of comfort.

 

Tuesday 8th: pray for Weston General Hospital, for the patients, staff and those who are anxious or mourn, also for the volunteers and the chaplain Dawn Mather.

 

Wednesday 9th: pray for the service at St Barnabas’ church this morning; pray for the work of TEAR Fund.

 

Thursday 10th: pray for Weston Hospice, for the patients and all close to them, staff, volunteers and Chaplain Karen Murphy.

 

Friday 11th: Pray for V our mission partner; pray for the persecuted church throughout the world and for Christians who daily risk death as they stand up for the Lord.

 

Saturday 12th: Please pray for those who will today seek healing in Wells Cathedral (12.00) as well as for those who will pray alongside them.

 

Sunday 13th: Start of Christian Aid Week. Pray for those who will be collecting and also that people will be generous in their giving. Pray for this morning’s services.

 

Monday 14th: pray for the work of Churches Ministry to the Jews, especially for Pedro Santos and his family our mission partners at Beit Immanuel.

 

Tuesday 15th: pray for the housebound and lonely, also for those who visit them; pray especially for those who have no family or friends near.

 

Wednesday 16th: pray for the service at St B’s this morning; pray for the Cell Groups, for fellowship and learning for all who attend;

 

Thursday 17th: Ascension Day. Give thanks as we celebrate Jesus’ return to his rightful place at the side of his Father.

 

Friday 18th: pray for the work of Broadway Lodge and give thanks for those who attend St Nicholas’ and whose lives are being changed as they draw nearer to the Lord; also for all with any kind of addiction.

 

Saturday 19th: pray for the Street Pastors everywhere, especially here in Weston as they work on the streets each Saturday night. Pray for Weis as she arrives at Gahini.

 

Sunday 20th: pray for this morning’s services; also for the new PCC as they are commissioned this morning.

 

Monday 21st: : Please pray for Abbey House, Glastonbury, for those attending Retreats or courses, their mentors and Warden Liz Pearson.

 

Tuesday 22nd: pray for the work of Crosslinks, especially  for the Smith family (Kabele, Uganda) our mission partners;pray for people and places in the news today.

 

Wednesday 23rd: pray for Bishops Peter, our Archdeacon Andy Piggott and for our Churchwardens Annabel and Jenny; also for our Readers Barbara, Franz, Jim and Shirley as they take on extra work during the vacancy.

 

Thursday 24th: pray for the table tennis club which takes place each Thursday, for Andy Settle as he leads it and for more young people to join them;

 

Friday 25th: pray for the Nursing and Residential Homes especially those who welcome Christian services; also for those who take the love of God to them from the parish.

 

Saturday 26th: pray for the lonely of this town, ask God to show us how we can help the lonely in our parish.

 

Sunday 27th: Pentecost – pray that the Holy Spirit will pour down on us, our churches and country and set hearts on fire for God.

 

Monday 28th: pray for those in authority, our queen, our government, local and national, that they may look to the Lord for his wisdom as they govern.

 

Tuesday 29th: Pray for the children’s work in the parish and for those who lead the various groups. Pray for your neighbours, especially how you can show God’s love to them.

 

Wednesday 30th: pray for the service at St Barnabas’ church this morning.

 

Thursday 31st: Pray for V our mission partner; pray for the persecuted church throughout the world and for Christians who daily risk death as they stand up for the Lord.
